Hancock County Schools practice "Leader in Me" Program

This is in line with the goal of exposing all elementary schools to a leadership program, including The Leader in Me which uses the 7 Habits principles. The book study was completed late this spring. This fall, on September 29, Muriel Summers, the educator who first implemented The Leader in Me in an elementary school came to the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts.

Ms. Summer’s morning presentation was to Findlay City Schools and McComb Local Schools. An afternoon session was provided for all other County schools. Finally, members of the Raise the Bar’s K-5 education committee met with representatives of Franklin Covey regarding the process and results of The Leader in Me program. Sean Covey, Steven Covey’s son, has been scheduled to come to Findlay-Hancock County in early 2017 to meet with educators, economic development and various members of the public.

The Leader in Me is Franklin Covey’s whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
